When boat detailing. remember boats are made from all different kinds of material, such as fiberglass or what we call nowadays gel coat, some with wood or teak, some boats might have Issing glass, some with chrome and caulk seals. Whatever it is all parts needs some kind of boat detailing. Here at boating supplies4u.com we have everything that you are looking for. Boat Detailing: Boat detailing the hull is the toughest. Try to have a good brush with a handle that expands that way you don't have to bend over and it makes it easier to get to the hardest part of the boat. Start by washing your boat with Imar yacht soap concentrate and with a non skid deck cleaner typically you use the non skid in the areas where you walk. Make sure you get under the rub rail this is where all the scum likes to live. Like spiders, dirt, and bugs. Don't forget about the water line, acid works best on getting rid of the scum that creates the water line. When the hull, bow, and stern is clean now it is time to use Imars protective polish for that bright shine. Apply the polish with a polishing rag by rubbing it into the gel coat until it becomes a dry white paste let stand for a few minutes, then rub off with a clean rag until all dry white paste is off. This will protect the fiberglass from the suns uv and those nasty bird droppings. This polish will make any boat shine with pride!! Boat detailing the chrome use Imar metal polish. Rub on with a polishing rag let dry usually when dry it will look like a white paste, with another soft rag rub it off until it shines. Remember it is important to polish your chrome. Chrome if not treated right could become dull or pitted. Boat detailing teak or wood. First use a 2 part teak cleaner and oil, clean the teak then rinse if the teak looks dull or black you will need to sand the teak. It would be best if the teak wood came off the boat this would make it easier to sand, it is best to use a 280 to 300 fine grit sandpaper. When sanding make sure you sand with the grain until the teak is back to its original orange color this sanding will also make the teak oil stick.. Clean the teak with the cleaner rinse let dry. Once dry varnish the teak with oil 2 to 4 coats sanding lightly with a 600 fine grit sandpaper in between coats. Let each coat of oil dry before sanding once all the coats of oil is on the teak wood it should have a bright and beautiful shine. If done properly it should last two full boat seasons. Boat detailing the cockpit. This area is the mostly used and abused from all the foot traffic. Start by taking all the carpet out if needed. Wash the cockpit area with Imar yacht clean and shine, with a sponge or a soft towel wipe the cockpit area until clean, don't forget to get up by the glass this is where all those wonderful bugs like to live. Next use Imars vinyl protectant spray or cream on your vinyl, this will make your vinyl soft and nothing looks better than having nice bright vinyl seats to sit on. Cockpit floor area use Imars yacht soap concentrate. Use the long expanded brush with soap until clean, rinse let dry and put the carpet back in if needed. Boat detailing Issing glass. Start by using Imars strataglass protective cleaner. Clean the Issing glass with the protective cleaner, spray on with a soft cloth (do not use paper towels they have too many fibers that can scratch the Issing glass) once all the Issing glass is clean. Apply Imars protective polish. This polish should be applied at least every 2 to 3 months if in areas of high fallout apply every 4 to 6 weeks. This polish will protect from damaging scratches and pollutants. Boat detailing tips that you should know about:
